I vividly remember when my husband and I became interested in learning about adoption. We wanted to learn more, but we didn’t know where to begin. And, as it was a very personal decision, we wanted to learn discretely. Most importantly, we wanted to talk with real people who actually had adopted as well as experts in the field so that we could make an informed choice not only if adoption was right for us, but also what path we wanted to follow on our adoption journey.
Unfortunately, it was very hard to begin. If it wasn’t for our parish pastor, we might not have ever made contact with those who ultimately helped provide us with the honest, unbiased information that helped us make our “leap of faith.” I worry, however, how many people don’t find that information and therefore miss the opportunity to really know if adoption is right for them.
While there are many sources of adoption information on the web, we believe there is room for one more that focuses on providing people with the information required to make their “leap of faith” by connecting them in a personal way with both those who have adopted as well as with experts in the field.
